China needle coke market research, analytics, 2019

In 2019, the total production of needle coke in China was about 445 thousand tons, coal-based – 250 thousand tons and oil-based – 195 thousand tons.

60% of coal-based needle coke was used for anode materials and 40% for graphite electrodes production.

33% of oil-based needle coke was used for anode materials and 67% for graphite electrodes production.

Import: total import – 261 thousand tons, 65 thousand tons coal based (South Korea 70%, Japan-30%), 196 thousand tons of oil-based needle coke (UK 79&, Japan and others 21%).

Export: total export of oil-based needle coke was about 35 thousand tons (Russia-90%, India,  Japan).

Main exporters: Shandong Yida New Material Co., LTD и Shandong Jingyang Technology.
