Baowu Group to become the world’s largest coal-based needle coke producer
Baowu Group’s 50,000 tonnes coal-based needle coke project in Wuhai has been steadily advancing since its official construction was announced on December 25, 2017. It is understood that the progress of the project has been completed by 70%, and it is expected to be put into production in May 2020.
At that time, Baowu Group owns 40,000 tons of Fuma Carbon (commissioned in June 2020); Baowu Carbon (Shanghai) 100,000 tons; and Baowu Carbon (Wuhai) 50,000 tons, with a total capacity of 190,000 tons, will become the world’s largest coal-based needle coke production enterprise.
The group plans to complete the integration of needle coke, lithium battery anode materials, graphite electrodes, carbon fiber, and other products by 2025.
