Algerian Qatari Steel plans to produce DRI this Jun

It was understood that despite the current market environment was unfavorable, Algerian Qatari Steel (AQS), an Algeria’s steel manufacturer, has successfully integrated its production operation.

The company’s second electric arc furnace (EAF) and continuous casting machine (CCM) have begun thermal testing last week. These two facilities were expected to produce 1.1 million tons of crude steel and 1.1 million tons of billet annually.

At present, AQS was using domestic scrap and imported direct reduced iron (DRI) as the raw materials, but it would be able to produce DRI for itself from this June after its DRI factory start producing which planned to produce 2.5 million tons per year.
